Unusually, Vivary Golf Club is situated just off the centre of the beautiful county town of Taunton in Somerset and located adjacent to Vivary Park itself. Although not a long course, it is deceptive. Vivary is an 18 hole 4620 yard par 63 course, and an emphasis is put on accurate shot placement to the narrow fairways and a certain amount of skill is required if you are to avoid the numerous bunkers and water hazzards. From the fairways, the greens represent small targets but be careful, don’t be too long as the Out of Bounds will snare any over-hit approach shots. Vivary is certainly a challenge for golfers of all abilities

The course is well maintained by the local authority, not withstanding this, you will find that Vivary Park Golf Course stands head and shoulders above the general conception of a municipal course and as such is a credit to the grounds staff.

You will receive a cheery welcome from the staff at the club and help is on hand should you require anything from the small but adequately stocked professionals shop. The clubhouse serves drinks in the fully licensed bar, excellent quality food in the restaurant and is a welcome relief after having “thought” your way around the course.

Having completed your round, the town centre is just a short stroll away or why not consider relaxing in the immaculately maintained gardens that make up Vivary Park. On occasions during the summer months, you can sit with your ice cream and listen to the town band playing from the Victorian Bandstand, harking back to days gone by whilst wondering how you managed to miss those short par 3’s and determining that next time you will brush up on your bunker play.
