Saltford Golf Club is situated in 150 acres of attractive countryside midway between Bath and Bristol, just off the main A4 trunk road. The course nestles in a natural wooded setting with extensive views over Bath, the Avon valley and the surrounding Somerset countryside and forms part of the Duchy of Cornwall's Newton St Loe Estate.
The club was formed in 1904 and is one of the founder member clubs of the Somerset Golf Union.
The course measures 6398yds (white tees), 6183yds (yellow tees) and 5770yds (red tees) with a par of 71 for men and 73 for ladies. The front 9 provides a stern test for all levels of golfer with 2 par 5s, including the longest hole on the course, the 5th which measures 571yds off the back tee and 3 par 4s over 420yds long. The back 9 is a little more forgiving with a few birdie opportunities but watch out for the 17th and 18th, which are 2 spectacular finishing holes. The course will only ever be closed in dangerous conditions and trollies are allowed throughout the year.
The clubhouse includes a casual bar complete with 52" television, lounge bar, seperate restaurant, snooker room with 2 full size tables and conferencing facilities.
Our resident PGA professional, Darren Read, with his 2 assistants, offers the full range of equipment and clothing in his shop and all 3 of them are available to give lessons to players of all abilities. Saltford's "state of the art" all weather practice tees and greens, which were only installed in 2007 are the envy of many.
So, if you are looking for a venue for a relaxing game of golf in delightful surroundings or somewhere to hold a business meeting, conference or family party, look no further than Saltford Golf Club, where you will be assured of a warm welcome and personal service.
