Although widely assumed to be a municipal course, Rouken Glen Golf Course is actually a  privately owned pay as you play 18 hole golf course, having just recently been acquired by a business consortium composed of London & Regional Holdings and Bank of Scotland. Before this acquisition, Rouken Glen Golf Centre was under the management and ownership of Next Generation Clubs (Ltd.)

The history of the course dates back to 1913 when Glasgow Corporation bought land adjacent to Rouken Glen Park, specifically for the purpose of building a golf course.

It is known that the course was designed by the legendary James Braid and in many ways it is a very good and typical example of one of his parkland creations, including as it does a notable example of the"dogleg" which Braid has been given the credit for inventing.

Although not a long golf course, the small greens and narrow approaches will test your all round game. The par of 65 is a stern test for all golfers but a very enjoyable one, with many scenic and panoramic views of the city.
