Take time to wonder at brilliant “Balwearie”

The Kircaldy Golf Club, affectionately known by locals as “Balwearie”, is set in 150 acres of beautiful, rolling Fife countryside and it’s a thrilling round from start to finish. The first hole is probably the most challenging hole of any course in Fife with a 180-yard carry over two burns, playing as an uphill dogleg with a second shot into a severe sloping green.

The course’s “Amen Corner” comes at the sixth, seventh and eighth where a burn comes into play again – and running all the way along the eighth – with out of bounds just off the seventh green. The par – 5 17th hole gives that special thrill to most players who are left with a tough decision whether to carry the burn in front of the green or to ensure birdie, only to be left with a short, challenging 18th hole  which has three greenside bunkers and a two tier green.

So for a fine Fife challenge, give Kircaldy a go. Kept in fantastic condition, it has a well deserved reputation as a course everyone should play in the “Kingdom”

Why not try the First in Fife Golf Pass – your great value passport to the Home of Golf – from as little as £55 for 3 rounds and from £85 for 5 rounds.
