Now, it may well be that you’re reading this in downtown New York and thinking just
how pleasant it would be to hop on a ‘plane and play 27 holes of Surrey countryside.
And, if that’s the case, then you’ll be delighted to learn that the two courses of
Farleigh are within an 8-iron of London’s two major airports, Heathrow and Gatwick.
And if that’s not enough of a come-on, then the icing on the cake is that the greens
here are all kept to USPG standards. The Members Course, designed by former Ryder
Cup hero, John Jacobs, spreads itself over some 360 acres and winds its way through
two, thoughtfully landscaped valleys. There will be those who mutter about the rough
but then, there have been those who have muttered about the rough since Noah first
picked up a mashie-niblick. The Combination Course, also a mix of heathers, flowers
and woodland that is typically Surrey, is no less of a test of your golf and both
will, at last, feed you, tired but happy, into the arms of Farleigh Court itself,
where a Surrey sundowner will be very much welcome.
