Came Down Golf Club is a Private Members Club, located between Dorchester and Weymouth. With splendid views of the Dorset countryside and Portland Harbour, site of the 2012 Olympic Sailing events.
Several holes have tumuli to be encountered and a few grassed over bomb craters which protect the greens, these serve to make the course particularly attractive. The 7th hole is rated by many as one of the most beautifully picturesque in the whole county. There are 5 Par 3s, of which two (6 and 12) offer special challenges.
This 18 Hole, Harry S Colt designed, 6255 yard (5720 meters SSS 70) Downland Course is situated on chalk and benefits from excellent drainage. Featuring some particularly long holes to tackle, so the big hitters will certainly enjoy the challenge. Established in 1896, Came Down Golf Club has a history second to none in the County. Visited by Samuel Ryder it is hailed as the Birthplace of the Ryder Cup.
